In wet rooms, which do not dry out fully, fungi spores develop and lead to the well-known infestation on the surfaces.
The infestation cannot develop on surfaces that are coated with sterions. Existing infestations can be cleaned with sterion solutions. This is similar to bacterial infestations in refrigerators.
